Ex SeAhOrSe..

Been quite a week ya? or shud i say, it's been quite an interesting course throughout these two weeks.. all e outsea n stuff, sailing ard e southern parts of singapore.. hmm..

maybe it ain't tt fun rushing for time every morning, loading up e boats with all e necessary items, den doing lifejacket tests (grrr..), but after tt, it's fun n excitement all e way.. feeling e cool sea breeze blowing on our faces, not to mention having e occasional splashes of water.. well, maybe it's not juz occasion, coz during seahorse we were totally drenched by e playful sea.. hehe navigating in e sea is seriously no joke, n juz as my instructor puts it, it ain't like driving a car where u can go straight..e traffic is pretty assorted though, with e trailers n bumbooats n sometimes even windsurfers come into our way..

almost forgot to meniton e wondrous sights of e southern islands.. kusu, sisters, hantu, juz to name a few.. they may not sound exciting, but these places are really pretty cool to visit, juz like escapes from e hectic life on mainland.. heck, even sentosa looks diff from outsea..

anyway it's all coming to an end le, with e handling test on mon being e finale of our exp on sea.. it's been a wonderful journey, ya..

dEjA vU...

Happening all over again.. yup tt's wat i'm suggesting..

Do u call tt a special sense? a talent, or a mystifying inborn gift?

hmm.. foreseeing into e future does have it's mysterious aura surrounding it..

haha i'm blabbering rubbish again.. nvm no one's gonna be reading this anyway.. no, corrections, not many will be reading this..

anyway stayed over again.. same things happening, juz tt i got to sleep this time round.. n didn't feel all tt poor after all e spending.. booking out's getting more n more routinized.. oh ya, collected my cert n saw some of e peeps back in sch.. mine think i'm really beginning to miss jc once again.. seeing all my fellow sch mates, even though i may not have even talked to some b4, n will prob nvr will.. still.. shud really have went out w dem, but.. haiz nvm.. there's gonna be other opportunities..

sth to travel, or sth more? commitments commitments.. one sure way of getting headaches..

Vt..

Juz came back from sec sch class outing.. Shag ar.. Didn't sleep at all coz stayed up e whole nite playing ps2, den watched a movie juz now in e afternoon.. platoon dinner at plaza hotel e previous nite as well.. so guess i've been awake for more den a day? hehe..

35km was completed last fri.. walked all e way from camp to east coast and back again.. finally, sth up e sleeves le.. a rooftop to cover us, as some may say.. vocation training's next, hopefully can perform well in it.. anyway dun really have much expectations le, juz hope it's gonna be a breeze.. hehe who doesn't like to slack?

Need some organisation.. Some time as well.. n not to forget some money as well.. life's abit haywire now, with all e events coming n going.. need some distraction..

no idea wat songs are cool n nice now, so shan't be placing dem down in e meanwhile.. sigh..

EnDiNg..

Finally.. It's gonna come to an end soon..

Though seriously speaking, it ain't really wat i've expected b4 coming in.. But it stll has an impact though..Esp during ex all-out..e amt of fatigue felt was indescribable.. haha nah, it wasn't tt bad, but everything was really exciting, to fight missions and all, raiding of objectives n ambushing vehicles on e way.. n did i mention it was field-packs on almost all e way? hehe we even had some uninvited guests.. a whole family of wild boars came to, eh, dig out our combat rations tt we buried.. haha..

tower rappeling e next week was pretty fun too..with e highlight being one of e instructors doing an inverted rappel, aka mission impossible style.. totally cool..

survival village was also filled with excitement n, well, blood n gore.. let's see.. 12 frogs, 4 eels, 2 iguanas were skinned n cooked right b4 e whole company.. some were even done on our own.. right from e killing to e cooking part.. n an innocent mouse was killed in e making too.. but tt's another story altogether hehe..

"e one being killed muz not suffer.."

n i guess e only thing left's e 35km route march.. our final test, n prob our final journey together with some of our platoon mates..

i guess it's bye.. for now..

Emotions.. Thoughts.. Feelings.. Sentiments..

Full of dem? Or fading away?

Things tt happen.. events tt occur.. situations tt follow.. headaches all ard.. worries galore.. hell of a time.. or maybe it ain't tt serious, but u get e point..

Not at small scale.. no, it doesn't happen to me..

Apathy? Maybe.. Or it's juz sticking to beliefs.. Why worry so much? Smile, laugh n enjoy life..

Or so i tot..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Right n wrong.. Who can act judge? is there even a right n wrong? Maybe there is, but it varies from e perspectives of every individual n e situation..
Mine's clouded though.. Justified to judge? I guess not..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Reasons? Or excuses? I guess it's up to all to intepret..

It's ok if nobody understands.. Or tt everyone misinteprets.. Ain't gonna be correcting dem.. Ain't e omnipotent being who's gonna be brainwashing e rest..

Think wat u think, believe wat u believe, do wat u do..

It's ur life.. Dun try to live others..

"Come Clean"

Let's go back
Back to the beginning
Back to when the earth, the sun, the stars all aligned

'Cause perfect didn't feel so perfect
Trying to fit a square into a circle
Was no life
I defy

[Chorus:]
Let the rain fall down
And wake my dreams
Let it wash away
My sanity
'Cause I wanna feel the thunder
I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I'm coming clean, I'm coming clean

I'm shedding
Shedding every color
Trying to find a pigment of truth
Beneath my skin

'Cause different
Doesn't feel so different
And going out is better
Then always staying in
Feel the wind

[Chorus]

I'm coming clean
Let the rain fall
Let the rain fall
I'm coming...

[Chorus x2]

Let's go back
Back to the beginning

我的心太乱..

ain't such a great day.. so much to shop, so little time.. no one to accompany too, or maybe is tt i chose not to have..

history has a funny way of repeating.. but e feeling.. sux no less..

wat does my destiny beckon?

no one understands.. not even myself..

~!@#$%^&*()_|~!@#$%^&*()_~!@#$%^&*()_+

nothing much to mention le.. really, think army's beginning to make me a boring person..or maybe it's juz e lack of hair.. or sleep.. or time out in e civilian world..

InItIaTiOn..

A fulfilling week.. N a fitting way to end e week..

Demolition's e word for e week man.. Theory n practical lessons all packed in three days.. n tt's only e basic.. Nvr imagined act having notes n sitting in e auditorium listening to my CSM, juz like in JC lecture hall.. (Dozing off was another common thing too haha..)

Field training at e soccer field turened into a disaster due to our lack of seriousness.. Crawled up n down e field, plus all e static pts.. Sheesh.. E sandcans in our SBOs did little to help too..

5 km soc in green fatigue yesterday morning.. Damn shagged man.. Wonder how i'm gonna pass it in skeleton battle oreder.. Not to mention e possibility of carrying e much heavier SAR21..

N e finale today.. "Initiation" as e instructors call it.. But another term would be major turnout i guessed.. Rude awakening at 3am, den had to change to FBO in 5 min.. With e bunk already turned upside down, inside out.. Had to layout all e equipment in e parade square, n at anytime we were moving slow, static pt came.. Lot's of teamwork n sweat came into play though, which was quite encouraging..

Tt was only stage one.. Stage 2 required us to fire lift our buddies ard e soccer field, den it was leopard crawling up n down e field again.. Luckily time constrains did not allow e instructors to play with us more, n we proceeded to e 3rd stage.. Taken to some unfamiliar place, given casualities,(in e form of jerry cans), n we were required to fast march back to camp.. this wasn't so bad, as everyone were basically fighting to carry e stretchers act..

N e ending point? Commando jetty.. N e reward for our efforts? our jungle hats, finally.. Though i can't really say tt we went thru alot to earn it, judging from wat our instructors went thru during their turnout, but well, no one's complaining rite? Haha..

11.4.2004

Back in camp after long weekedn.. Wel, on paper it's long, but when's a break ever long for us? Live range tmr again, SAR21 familiarisation shoot..Some sg manufactured rifle, heavy n bulky, but pretty accurate.. Think will be carrying it for soc.. Sheesh..

$14.40..n everyone juz "pao3 lu4".. sheesh.. haha not tt i mind la, it's e gameplay tt's more impt, not e cash involve ya? though it does inject more excitement in e game..n hey, we're banning mums from e game le, it's like a cheat code of sorts..

Didn't do anything much for e past week, save for e 1st day.. Live firing of LAW n M203.. their firepower ain't all tt spectacular like those saw in movies, thoug they still pack quite a punch.. Turnout came next, to set e tone for BCT.. Change parade n PT, all in full battle order.. Not to mention leopard crawling ard e company line.. "shiok man".. Didn't even had appetitie for night snack after tt..

Think i act accomplished quite a few things during e weekend.. Watched 2 movies, swam, shopped n.. Eh.. Juz enjoyed myself la.. Been so long since i've act enjoyed myself with frens, or relaxed so much.. Hehe..

Can't remember much le.. Army makes ur memory short-termed man..

PoP lOh..

Private!!

Yes, tt's wat i am gonna be in another 2 hrs' time.. Passed out juz a few hrs ago, now sitting in e comfort of my house, finally after 2 whole days of rehearsal for e parade.. At last it's all over.. Not juz e parade but e whole bmt period.. Though private isn't really a rank, it's still an achievement ya? But being one means more responsibilities.. N more training as well.. Sheesh..

It's been a slack week though.. Save for e physical tests like soc n ippt in e mornings.. After tt it's juz idling e ime away in e bunk.. So bored we got tt my section act made a chinese chess set to play with.. Another section got another idea n made a ball out of masking tapes n paper.. Thus starting e 2-on-2 tournament.. Ppl took turn doing "sentry duties" too, to allow e other to sleep in peace.. Haha..

Company's nite out on thurs at Igor's.. Boy was it exciting man.. Think some tv show covered it in its program b4.. It's a spook-themed restaurant near indoor stadium where e dinners are first led thru a trail filled with horrors, den to e dining hall where performances are held at e stage in front.. practically everything can be done there.. dance on e bench, squeeze each other's butt, whistle at e waitresses, throw up.. u get e pic? e show's very professional too.. Haha sounds like i'm advertising for dem ya? Though e food can be much better, but i guess it was a nite of fun n relaxation for all of us.. After all, u dun get to party so much in camp rite? Haha..

Getting sleepy after e hectic day.. Gotta get some rest now.. Zzzz...

Yeah finally back home le.. After one hectic week filled with tests n route march.. Guess i'll have a easier time updating den.. Hehe coz i passed everything!!! Not spectacularly, but it'll do for now.. Ok tat's abt everything tt happened during e week le.. Haha..

Next week gonna pop le.. So it's gonna be prep work all e way till sat.. N after tt's bct.. No rest in b/w.. Sigh.. When everyone's out there enjoying life, i'll be in camp getting turnouts.. Haha wat a life man.. Not to forget e 5km soc.. Woohoo..

Class juz set up a new website.. Or shud i say chap did another one for us, for old times' sake.. So more n more ppl will be reading this le.. Hi to everyone out there visiting this od for e first time ya? haha..

Shall continue this tmr.. If i can tt is.. Brain's not functioning properly.. Hehe..

RuShInG fOr TiMe..

Juz like always.. rushing for time again.. So pardon me if everything's kinda jumbled ya?

1st day: Went woodlands for, eh, a bit of tuition first b4 heading to marina square to meet up with e brothers.. Had dinner at kenny rogers, which was pretty worth e money.. Poulet became breathless after e dinner though, maybe eatin chicken didn't agree with him too well.. Next stop was at chijmes, where we saw man u defeating tottenham 3-0.. didn't really had e mood to enjoy it though, lost sth precious along e way, sobs..

2nd day: Woke up all sore n tired, slept late e nite b4 ya? Still went ahead with soccer in ri, been so long since i last sweat it out on e court le.. Down on luck again though, deflecting e last shot in.. Sheesh.. Had karaoke session with chap n pung too.. Memories of e times started flooding in.. Those days.. Sigh.. Saw a sectionmate in e next room too, such a pleasnt surprise..
Had some catching up with chap after tt too.. Realise tt it's been a pretty long time since i entered army le.. Haiz getting older day by day..

3rd day: Caught up with sleep, den went down to jec.. Was preached for almost an hr b4 finally able to settle down for a proper meal.. Den it was movie at westmal.. "Butterfly effect" it's called.. Some weird show abt twisted mind n memories n changing of lifes.. Pretty good storyline though..

N now it's time to book in again.. Too serious too soon i guess, juz like e song.. Sheesh.. Guess it'll be next week(i hope) tt i can update on last week's events..

Once again sorry for e ramblings.. Time's precious ya? Haha.. As long as i can get my points across..

GrAdUaTiOn...

Sometimes some songs juz kinda capture everything tt u've exp at a point of time in life, n here's one good example.. To all those who're still schooling, remember, time waits for no man.. So treasure all e moments, no matter how insignificant it may be..

Graduation (Friends Forever)

And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives
Where we're gonna be when we turn 25
I keep thinking times will never change
Keep on thinking things will always be the same
But when we leave this year we won't be coming back
No more hanging out cause we're on a different track
And if you got something that you need to say
You better say it right now cause you don't have another day
Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down
These memories are playing like a film without sound
And I keep thinking of that night in June
I didn't know much of love
But it came too soon
And there was me and you
And we got so blue
Stay at home talking on the telephone
We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared
Laughing at ourselves thinking life's not fair
And this is how it feels

As we go on
We remember
All the times we
Had together
And as our lives change
Come whatever
We will still be
Friends Forever

So if we get the big jobs
And we make the big money
When we look back now
Will our jokes still be funny?
Will we still remember everything we learned in school?
Still be trying to break every single rule
Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?
Can Heather find a job that won't interfere with her tan?
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly
And this is how it feels

La, la, la, la:
Yeah, yeah, yeah
La, la, la, la:
We will still be friends forever

Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?
Can we survive it out there?
Can we make it somehow?
I guess I thought that this would never end
And suddenly it's like we're women and men
Will the past be a shadow that will follow us 'round?
Will these memories fade when I leave this town
I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye
Keep on thinking it's a time to fly

FaMiLy..

An email from a fren.. Guess many wud have seen it, but juz to spread e msg ard.. To all those who're mad, or have been mad with their family members for one thing or another, do remember tt no matter wat, they're still ur closest kins ard..

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

OvErDuE..

Hehe typing this after like 2 weeks passed by? Told ya army's restrictive le..

15/3 - First day of live firing.. First day w/o rain in tekong too.. Haha finish firing already den slack ard, waiting for e sky to turn dark to commence night firing.. Hopefully everything goes smoothly, breaking e "outfield curse" of mine..

Rudely awakened in e middle of e nite coz someone forgot to do sentry duty.. Not blaming him though, everyone makes mistakes ya?

16/3 - 2nd day.. Same as always.. Slight drizzle in e morning, thnk we're really raingods man.. CSM act provided us with can drinks? Wat luxuries during outfield.. Though we had to pay for dem, but tt's juz a small price to pay for a whole lot of morale boosting..

18/3 - Unforseen circumstances forced us back into camp.. Armed robbers in tekong, terminating all activities on e island..

Another bdae bash.. Sheesh.. Dreading e day when it comes.. 6 more days? haha..

19/3 - Soreness all over e body.. All impromptu activities today coz no one expected to come back to camp anyway.. Area clean, pt n peer appraisal will fill up e time i guess..

Guess tt's abt it.. Basic skeleton of e things done in camp? Haha..

Sunday, March 14, 2004

OuTfIeLd..

At long last i'm finally out of tekong.. for 2 plus days at least haha.. going back soon for live firing there.. Sheesh..

Been quite an eventful outfield exp for me.. Though trying hard not to remember e forgettable incidents.. it'd really have been an enjoyable exp if not for those silly mistakes which i'll rather not mention..

Let's see.. Rain rain n rain.. Combat rations everyday, though i dun really mind dem.. Cold cold nite with sentry duties.. Sleeping on e cold hard cement floor.. 16 km route march with full battle order, plus lots of civilian songs along e way.. Haha doesn't sound really fun ya? it's act all e little things done durin free time tt made things more bearable la..

Well, kinda hard to recall back on all e exp.. all shud i say, i rather not try.. Sigh..

Life's getting boring.. Watch e days pass by w/o doing anything meaningful.. Book outs are such blessings..

Went nus open hse yesterday, saw lots of familiar faces.. Guess it was more of a social trip den a scouting for course trip.. Still dunno whether to register for nus or ntu, or for which course in any case.. Prob gonna ask ard for opinions lor..

Time passes by.. so quickly..

GrOwInG uP..

The first day of school, our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?"

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze. "Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.

She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get
married, have a couple of kids..."

"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm
getting one!" she told me.

After class, we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave, class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up.

At the end of the semester, we invited Rose to speak at our
football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.

Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the
microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry. I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."

As we laughed, she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success."

"You have to laugh and find humor every day." "You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!"

"There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old, lie in bed for one full year, and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old."

"If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change."

"Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."

She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose."

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.

At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation, Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.
